Established in 1909, this national monument is believed to be one of Oregon's real haunted spots. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Legend says that a woman called Elizabeth hanged herself here from a pipe in her room located in the Oregon Caves Chateau on her wedding night after finding her husband with someone else. Her spirit has been seen wandering the halls at night. Room #310 (where Elizabeth died) is said to be quite haunted, and has had some reports of strange activity, including furniture that rearranges itself, or even placed out in the hall. Guests have also reported that they've returned to their room to find their suitcases repacked.

    My husband and I with our 2 young sons stayed at this hotel for one night, not knowing anything about a ghost story. That night however, we all experienced a feeling of someone pacing back and forth in the room, particularly at the foot of our bed. My husband who never believed in ghost or spirits, now believes in them after he experienced that. Whenever I close my eyes that night, I see a face of a woman with curly hair.

  • The Death of Elizabeth

    Actually, Elizabeth didn't hang herself, she jumped from her 3rd story window after finding out her husband cheated on her before her wedding day.
